Heston’s ethos is pitch-perfect. It makes me think that people who immediately despise him never give him a chance to talk. One of the strongest turning points of his message is when he tells the anecdote about political correctness and the word niggardly. I remember that being in my vocabulary book in middle school. |

Most people can relate the mental slavery we’ve reached by being so politically correct all the time. Heston’s speech is surprisingly comforting because he immediately addresses any preconceived notions that you may have about him. |

Act III -- coming soon Affirmations—people are good, the audience is good, and people need to be told this so they continue to listen and not feel alienated. Heston taught me to tackle any preconceived notions right off the bat. I like that. If you know the audience hates you for something, its good to address that; let them know that you know that they know. It helps them get inside your head and makes them feel as through you are really apart of them and stand for something everyone can relate to. |
